About YAPS 有關永安
YungAn Elementary School is located in YungAnVillage in Lu-Yei Township, Taitung County. Visitors can take the train to Lu-Yei Station and then take the bus to the YungAn Activity Center stop. The school is within a 3-minute walk. The predecessor of YungAn Elementary School was the branch school of Long-Tien Elementary School. In 1950, YungAn Elementary School was separated from Long-Tien Elementary School, and in 1973, the Yuon-Long branch school initiated the recruitment of new students. The students of YungAn Elementary School currently include forty-eight students and sixteen children enrolled in Kindergarten. Students are from different social and ethnic groups, including Amis, Min, Hakka, and other Chinese descendants. Nowadays, more and more children have foreign blood from their mothers’ side. Most of them are from Southeast Asian countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia. Therefore, communication between teachers and parents and home education has become an urgent task. Most parents here are tea farmers, and some of them cultivate pineapples and bananas. Students are surrounded by abundant natural resources and fantastic views of nature; however, the lack of mainstream cultural stimulus also leads to the need for after-school tutoring. In recent years, the number of grandparent families and single-parent families has been rising, so counseling and mental health care are also needed. The campus is vast and characterized by various botanical gardens and ecosystems it derives. Butterflies, insects, and birds all dwell in it. Students are allowed to observe the dazzling life cycles of insects firsthand while promenading along the bird-chirping trees. Besides, the varieties of plants and flora provide great opportunities for science and eco-education. The present principal is Wen Shang-Te. The vision of the school and expectations for students are: first, take responsibility for whatever you do; second, dare to dream and use your imagination and creativity; third, learn from your own errors and thrive from them; fourth, love and care for everyone and everything.
